Foto itu diambil pada tahun 1969. Kalian lihat di sebelah kanan (paling kanan) adalah paman saya, beliau mempunyai turban ulama, mereka biasa melilitkan turbannya pada Ottoman fez (sejenis peci Ottoman).

Itulah satu-satunya kunjungannya menemui Grandsyekh ‘Abdullah al-Fa’iz ad-Daghestani (q).

Ketika kami tiba, Grandsyekh berbicara selama 3 jam non stop. Paman saya ketika menyalaminya, beliau menjabat tangan Grandsyekh; tetapi ketika pulang beliau bukan hanya mencium tangan Grandsyekh, tetapi juga mencium kakinya.

That picture was taken in 1969. You see on the right side is my uncle, he has a scholar’s turban, they used to wrap the turban on the Ottoman fez.
That was the only time he visited Grandshaykh ‘Abdullah al-Fa’iz ad-Daghestani (q).
He was the president of the Muslim Scholars in Lebanon, Shaykh ‘Abdullah Alayli, and was known as the “walking encyclopedia” in jurisprudence, in tafsir of holy Qur’an and in history and seerah.
When my brother and I asked him to meet Grandshaykh he said, “Ah, why do I need to meet another teacher?”
He said, “why do I need to visit him” as if to say “I know everything, visiting him will not add to my knowledge.”
We pressured him until he finally agreed finally and we went.
When we arrived Grandshaykh spoke non-stop for 3 hours. My uncle when he greeted him he shook his hand. But when he was leaving, he not only kissed grandshaykh’s hand but kissed his feet as well.
He told us that he had put seven questions in his heart to ask Grandshaykh and that Grandshaykh “without me even mentioning the questions, he answered all seven!”
“One of the questions I put in my heart was ‘what is Ismullah al-`Azham, Allah’s Greatest Name?’ I had that question in my mind and he addressed it as if someone was asking about an issue that is so simple that it does not mean anything. He addressed it as someone relating a story for a child!”
