Tingkatan Puasa

Di dalam Ihya `uluum ad-diin Imam Ghazali berkata bahwa puasa mempunyai tiga tingkatan, Shawm al-awwaam, puasanya orang-orang awam seperti kita, kemudian Shawm al-khawwaas, puasanya orang-orang yang saleh dan ikhlas, dan semoga Allah menjadikan kita termasuk ke dalamnya, serta yang ketiga adalah Shawm khawaas al-khawaas, puasanya para ulama yang benar-benar ikhlas dan seperti Sayyidina Bayazid al-Bistami (q), yang mengatakan, “Bagaimana aku datang kepada-Mu?” kemudian ia mendengar suara di dalam kalbunya “Tinggalkan dirimu dan datanglah kepada-Ku.” Orang-orang khawaas adalah seperti itu dan mereka tidak mendengar pada hasrat diri mereka, mereka hanya mencari keridaan Allah.

Shawm al-awwaam adalah “kaf at-ta`m wal-faraj“, menahan makan, minum dan syahwat.

Dan puasanya orang khawaas adalah meninggalkan perilaku buruk termasuk ghibah. Kita sering sekali melakukannya walaupun kita meninggalkan makanan dan minuman. Kemudian puasanya orang khawaas al-khawaas adalah seperti Sayyidina Bayazid al-Bistami (q) yang meninggalkan hasrat buruknya demi Allah, meninggalkan segala sesuatu selain Allah ma siwa’llah.

In Ihya `uloom ad-deen Imam Ghazali said, that fasting is of three levels, the Sawm al-awwaam, the fasting of common people like us, and then Sawm al-khawwaas, the fasting of the pious and sincere people and may Allah make us among them, and the 3rd is Sawm khawaas al-khawaas, the fast on the highly sincere scholars and like Sayyidina Bayazid al-Bistami (q),who said, how can I come to You and he heard a voice of inspiriation in his heart “leave yourself and come to Me.” these khawaas are like that they dont listen to their desires and they listen to Allah’s pleasures.
The sawm al-awwaam is “kaf at-ta`m wal-faraj”, to withhold eating and sexual desires.
And the fast of the khawaas is to leave bad manners including backbiting.We do that too much even though we left food and drink.And the fast of the khawaas al-khawaas is as with Sayyidina Bayazid al-Bistami (q) to leave our bad desires for Allah’s sake to leave everything that is other than Allah ma siwa’llah.
